Apple Crumble Tart

In a mood to bake something sweet....but nothing labor intensive or exotic.  A simple weekend desserts that would be great  after a light weeknight meal. Perfect to satisfy my sweet cravings :) :)

I had bookmarked this recipe and I think it was from either- The Costco way : costco cookbook using costco products  or maybe from Good Housekeeping!!

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4th cup  confectioner's sugar
pinch of salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter - @ room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
4-5 apples

Preheat oven to 375F. Combine Confectioner’s sugar, flour and salt. Add the butter and vanilla extract and the mixture will  feel sandy.

Set aside 1 cup of this, pour the rest into one inch deep pie dish and press the dough to the bottom and sides. ( ref to pix) If the dough feels sticky dust with some all-purpose flour.

Add brown sugar and spices to the remaining dough and evenly blend.

Peel and core apples and cut into thin round slices. Arrange the slices into the tart shell in even layers, after every 2 layers sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the apples. Sprinkle the last of the brown sugar on the top.

Bake until the apples are tender about 50 min. Set aside to cool and cut into wedges to serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a swirl of it ;-)
