It was lunch time and everyone was rushing to get to the huge concrete slide in the playground. I must have been twelve. I waited for my ‘friends’ but found myself alone …. Everyone was chatting with their own set of friends or taking turns on the huge slide - I walked by the lychee trees, where I could get a peek of the mountains, watching the sparrows and glancing at the distant mountains. Lunch break was almost over and so was my sandwich. I could hear the giggles of my friends, somewhere in the distance. I kept to myself and knew that I was not really wanted. Little did I know, I was learning a valuable lesson for life, to be able to be comfortable with myself.

Unlike my early years, fortunately for me life has awarded me with some fabulous people who came into my life as friends and have meant much more. Even though I may be surrounded by people, chatter, traffic and what have you, I can shut out the noise and be ‘alone’ . It’s not something I need to do consciously, it’s  involuntary.  Probably, that’s a lesson from my childhood and I am so glad I acquired that skill. I really don’t know how the dots are connected but somewhere it is the same feeling when I create something with my camera. I literally forget where I am - mesmerized by what my eyes can see and lens can capture. There is nothing more gorgeous that the great Master - the light of the sun never seizes to amaze me. These are the few shots I took that will stay with me as priceless memories. Am fortunate to have my sister as one of my closest friends and this trip is even more special as she was with me and together in our silence we soaked in the beauty of the mountains.
